During Twisted Metalcraft’s many years of operation, we have made countertops from a large variety of materials, including stainless steel, copper, brass, zinc, and mild steel.
Whether it’s a small one-off bench, a custom made BBQ, or a full commercial or residential fitout, we can build to your specific dimensions and requirements.
Custom counter tops and islands benches can be created to fit the shape and size of your kitchen. We make it easy to specify and customise every feature and dimension by sending our tradesmen to your site to take measurements and discuss styles and designs before production.
Every bench and countertop supplied by Twisted Metalcraft is fully welded and polished, giving you the option of welded and integrated custom bowls and strainers from our standard selection or from an external designer (Please
call to consult us before purchasing as the thickness of the bowl must be suitable for integration).
To ensure the best lead times and the highest quality, our CAD draftsman can draw up plans and 3D detailed
drawings of every bench before commencing production in house. This will ensure the finished result is exactly as
you imagined.

Which Metals can be used?
It is common to see custom fabricated stainless steel countertops and benches in professional or contemporary kitchens as they look great and are hard wearing.
However, stainless steel is not the only option, having only been around since 1912. Before that zinc, copper, bronze and even pewter were the choices when it comes to benches. These are still very common place in
traditional or period style kitchens.
Metal countertops and benches are far more superior than stone (such as granite) as they are not porous (so they
don’t need sealing) and they are more stain resistant. Best of all – they are fully recyclable.

Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is the most popular finish when metal benches are concerned. It matches very well with stainless steel
appliances and is easy to clean while being less prone to staining (remember it is stainless not stainproof).
Bars and countertops can be made to nearly any size, with welded and polished joins where required. Stainless steel bowls and strainers can be fully integrated as required.
Copper
Copper was discovered over 10,000 years ago and is one of the oldest metals in use.
This material has unique antimicrobial properties and looks great when polished or even as it ages to a rose gold, brown, green or black colour.
It has been proven in a British study that the bacteria E coli can survive on stainless steel for over 30 days, but on copper it only survives for 4 hours, making copper a smart choice in situations where hygiene is important.
Zinc
Zinc bar tops and countertops are in high demand.
This material is grey in colour and ages naturally, however we can give zinc products a patina or age them to give an antique, rustic look.

Bronze and Brass
Copper alloys such as bronze and brass are becoming increasingly popular across residential and commercial projects.
They are harder wearing than copper due to their additional metals, however similar to copper and zinc benchtops they can be polished, left raw to age, or can be pre-aged to your liking.
